On June 4, we were invited by the vice-principal of Highgate Public School to participate in the school’s Community Kite Festival. Students, parents, and residents from the surrounding community gathered on campus to fly kites together, enjoy the early summer sunshine, and share laughter in both English and Chinese. The event was filled with a warm and vibrant community atmosphere.
At the event, our outreach volunteers enthusiastically introduced visiting families to the mental health resources and community services offered by MHMH and WCCYC. Many parents and community members stopped to speak with us and expressed their appreciation and interest in receiving mental health support in Chinese. During the few hours we spent at the event, we not only distributed informational materials but also developed many sincere conversations and meaningful connections.
Seeing more and more families learn about and pay attention to mental health further strengthened our commitment to serving the Chinese community. We look forward to working with more schools and community partners in the future to bring warmth and support to more people in need.
