Dr. Yang is an Active Community Leader and an experienced counselor with expertise in nonviolent communication, parent-child relationship, and couple relationship.
Background and Education
Dr. Lixia Yang, full professor, Department of Psychology, Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Yang received a PhD in psychology, and then completed postdoc fellowships at the Max-Plank Institute for Human Development and Education and the Department of Psychology, University of Toronto. Dr. Yang joined the Department of Psychology of the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2005, where she leads the Cognitive Aging Laboratory and teaches a variety of courses, including Child Development, Adult Development, Introduction to Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology.
She founded or co-founded two non-profit community organizations: the EPIC (EQ Parenting Inspiration Club) and WeSupport (Canadian Chinese mental health mutual-support group).
