Policies

Fees are payable at the start or end of each session unless we make other arrangements. We accept PayPal, cash, cheques, WeChat pay and e-transfers via email. We do not take credit card or debit. Requests for additional documentation (e.g. letters, reports) are charged at our usual hourly rate.

Cancellation policy

If an appointment is cancelled with less than 12 hours notice, there will be a cancellation fee of $50 charged regardless of the reason. A missed session, that is a session missed without prior notice or message, is subject to the full session fee.

Insurance Coverage

Our services are not covered by OHIP. However, the majority of extended health benefits/employer benefits, UHIP(University Health Insurance Plan) and International Student Insurance Plan do cover psychotherapy and social worker services (typically in your health and dental insurance package). Please inquire directly with your insurance provider to confirm.

These are the important questions to ask your insurance provider:

  1. What is the full amount covered for mental health services?
  2. What designations are covered? Psychologists, Psychotherapist, and/or Social Workers?

If Registered Social Workers and Psychotherapists are covered under your insurance benefits, the session fee will be payable at the time of the appointment and a receipt will be issued to you to be submitted to your insurance provider once payment for the session has been received.

As of 2012, psychotherapy services provided by registered social workers (MSW, RSW) are recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.

Sliding Scale Availability

We provide a limited number of sliding scale (reduced fees) spots for clients with low/fluctuating income. 

Please inquire if you are in financial difficulty before confirming a consultation session.
